About three weeks ago my little brother (Spence, not A.J.) and I went to visit Melissa and Tim in VA. On our first flight we sat behind a crazy lady who wanted alcohol as soon as she sat down. Our second flight was a lot more peaceful without the crazy lady on board. We arrived in Norfolk, VA at 11:40 almost a half hour early and yes had to wait. Melissa and Tim picked us up around 12:30 am and we headed out for their townhome in Williamsburg. Upon arriving we took a tour of their two bedroom one and a half bath townhouse. It is much nicer than I expected it to be. Melissa had made us a nice bed on an airmaterss and a little welcome sign. She has always been a thoughtful person, so I shouldn't have expected anything less. The next day we had to wrestle with Spence because he needed a haircut and BAD!! So M'liss finally convinced him to let her cut it. He played guitar hero while she cut it and I got ready for the day. After we were all ready to go we took a 40 minute drive to M'liss' school. It was so fun to finally see where she is all day long everyday! We helpped organize stuff and set stuff up while she tried to write some lesson plans. Man I'm glad I did not want to become a teacher! It would just be too much for me! She seems to handle it well though! After that we headed back to her place and had some dinner and then I showed her how to get started on a blog page. It probably wasn't the smartest on my part because blogging can be so addictive sometimes!
The next day M'liss, Spence, and I went to Jamestown Settlement. It had a huge museum where you can see things they have found in that area and some representations of what the Indain homes looked like. They also had a little part of a street that looked like a street in England way back when. It was really cool to see. We also got to watch a little video about the real Pocahontas. She did not marry John Smith, now the real guys name escapes me, but it wasn't John. After we walked around the museum we went outside where they have ships that were built to look just like the ships that the first settlers came there on. It was pretty neat to actually be able to walk around on them. We got to sit in the little places were they slept and see how cramped it really was. I don't think I could have gone across a huge ocean on such a small space. I would have jumped overboard before we arrived at our destination. Anyway, after the ships we walked around the village. It was pretty cool. On our way home we picked Tim up from school and went home. We made some dinner and the boys played Guitar Hero. After dinner we played the bean trader game. It is one of Spence's favs.
The next day we went to Busch Gardens! The first roller coaster we went on ended up being our favorite! I am so mad at myself because I brought my camara around with me all day and did not take one single picture! I barely got one of our favorite roller coaster AFTER we left. I'm just a horrible picture taker. Anyway, we tried to at least ride all of the roller coasters. They have Halloween stuff around Halloween time so M'liss did not want to be around when the scary people came out. Luckily we were done just when the Halloween people were coming out. We rode this crazy roller coaster that had not 1 but 2 90 degree drops in it!!!!! It brings you up to the top then hangs you over the edge kind of like the rocket at Lagoon but better because you get to keep going after the drop! I thought my heart was going to stop after hanging there for a minute. They had a lot of fun rides! Surprisingly it was a chilly day. After riding our favorite roller coaster like five times we decided we were done. We went home and played some more games and just enjoyed being together.
We went to church on sunday and then came home a slept a little bit. I think I'm mixing some days up but I guess it's ok! :) Monday we did a little shopping. One of the nights we went to Rita's! Oh my goodness it was so yummy!!!! It was Italian ice with custard! Custard, for those of you who don't know (I didn't), is like fluffy ice cream. Well that's how I describe it anyway! I got a Blendini! It was chocolate custard mixed with chocolate italian ice, pretzles, and brownie chunks!! YUMMY!!!! They lady was so nice and friendly too! If you ever go to Virginia go to Rita's! Well It is closed now so wait until it is open of course!:)
Our last day there was Tuesday and I was going to make the most of it. We got our bags all packed and said good-bye to M'liss and Tim's house. We shopped around colonial Williamsburg, went to lunch at WAWA (a fun gas station-like place where you order your sub sandwich on a computer) with Tim, and drove around seeing the older houses in the area. I just love older houses and have had this dream of fixing up an old house some day, so seeing these houses was so fun to me! There was one house for sale so I took a picture so Koby could see it, but I don't think he liked it as much as I did! :) After we had all our fun it was time to head for the airport. We got there with what felt like so little time, but ended up having to wait just a little bit. It was sad to say good-bye as it always is, but I'm so happy that M'liss and Tim get to come out for Christmas!!! It has felt like something is missing everytime our family gets together!!! All in all it was a great trip and would love to do it again! I'll have to bring Koby with me though, I think he missed me a little bit while I was gone!!! ;)
Thanks M'liss and Tim for such a great time! We love you so much and CAN'T wait to see you again in December!!!!! :)
